Stopping the public speaking at Council meetings, scrapping the balloon festival, canceling the fireworks, more cut backs on  Christmas Lights, more crazy schemes for the Market Square, awarding themselves massive pay rises of up to 65% at the same time that they announce a £7.2m black hole in their budget, closing public toilets, cutting neighbourhood wardens and huge u-turns over opposition to new housing and  development.

These are just a few of the highlights of the Liberal Democrats first two years in office at the Guildhall. Of course none of the above were mentioned in their pre-election blurb sheet “Focus” But like the previous Tory administration they replaced, they have decided that they serve other masters once in power. It’s a great shame, some of those elected for the first time in May had good intentions and must feel as cheated as the electorate do at such an about face.

But once again it has been Party first Public last.  It has to stop!

Like most new administrations they are learning the hard way that promises made in opposition are not easy to deliver on when faced with the reality of having to deliver

And yet all people want are the simple things in life, Public Toilets for a start, and then how about some FOCUS on getting some sponsorship for key events in the town instead of just canceling or destroying them? So far it seems to be a case of a continued Conservative Administration with yellow rosettes on.
